An integral part of alcohol moderation in the Stop At Two program involves therapy. Numerous studies over the past 30 years have shown that treatment programs that involve therapy lead to higher success rates for patients. There are of course multiple types of therapy, from cognitive behavioral therapy to motivational therapy to brief interventional therapy. Stop At Two’s philosophy is that therapy must be integrated into the life of the client. Our goal is to meet the client on her terms. This will frequently mean meeting the client outside of our office’s walls. It could be a meeting for coffee, a walk around the park, a hike in the mountains, or lunch. It could be a phone call or a HIPAA-compliant telemedicine video conference in the evening hours or on weekends. Again, our goal is to provide the client with support on his or her terms, in a way that integrates us into the client’s world.
